Desire is frequently represented in a way which can make it seem like a hindrance to the spiritual path.
In Stephen Mitchell’s translation of the Tao, he writes:
“Caught in desire, realise only manifestations.
Free from desire, realise the Mystery”
Another interpretation, which you may find gives you greater freedom to Create, to manifest, while also exploring spirituality, is this:
Desire-full, realise manifestation.
Desire-less, realise Mystery.
Simultaneously embrace both the yin and the yang of form and formless, manifestation and mystery.
Desire is the source of all Creation. Everything is born from desire.
