Etymologically, the word ‘responsibility’ comes from ‘the ability to respond’.
In a way then, responsibility means to be ‘response-able’.
By relating to responsibility as being response-able, you remove the sense of obligation. Then actions associated with your responsibilities move from being burdens on you to actions you can choose to take.
In this way, by being responsible, you are always free to respond.
